watercolour skills & PRactice 1

Friday mornings, 10am -12 noon, on the following dates:
25 April, 2 May, 16 May, 23 May, 13 June (5 sessions)

Venue: Upstairs in the Kennington Village centre, Kennington Rd, Kennington, Oxford OX1 5PG

Cost: £120

This class is for anyone who wants to learn and practise watercolour painting. Focus is on modern watercolour techniques, and subjects are mostly florals, birds, and still life, which are useful subjects for focusing on paint to water ratio, timing, wet-in-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, and hard and soft edges. There will also be some focus on watercolour and mixed media, and painting & drawing with ink, which is similar to watercolour and loads of fun.

You will need to bring your own materials. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Email me to book your space!

FAQs:

I can’t make all the sessions, can I book individual sessions?

No, sorry. It is simply too much administration for me to offer this. Join my newsletter to be notified when I run one-off workshops.

I’m a total beginner. Will this class be suitable for me?

This class is not my signature four-week “Watercolour for Beginners” class. But if you are a beginner you can still join it, as long as you are willing to bring your own materials and “have a go”. I will provide individualised advice during the class to help you achieve the techniques we are focusing on. Alternatively, you can join my mailing list to be notified when I next run the four-week Watercolour for Beginners class in Oxford. The next 4-week Beginners course is likely to run in early September 2025. You could also book a one-to-one lesson with me, to cover the basics of brush technique and paint-to-water ratio. One-to-one lessons are £65 per hour and require two hours.

Cancellation policy:

If you cancel before the course starts, AND I can fill your space, you will get a full refund. If I can’t fill your space, you will get a 50% refund. If you cancel after the course has started, you will not get a refund.

Feedback from Other In-Person Classes

“I go to a watercolour class at Sunningwell School of Art where I consider myself to still be a relative beginner. Sometime ago you took a lesson for Kevin Scully and I thoroughly enjoyed your teaching method so I  am excited to be able to learn more from you.”
